Great review of our book: Working “#iPadOnly” – a new take on productivity

Working "#iPadOnly" ... buff.ly screenshot

Great blog post about our book and a typical person ready to try the #iPadOnly way:

Also, for me personally, I work from home and have a toddler nearby most of the time. I realised that if I could do more of my work from my iPad it would give me more flexibility to be productive but not be tied to my desk.

Totally agree: iPad Air Battery Life Bests Other Tablets

Although I'm happy iPad Air's battery is so good, I wish it was even better, but it's a tradeoff. The thinness of the Air is also important. That's why I love my Air. It's the best iPad yet and it's perfect for my #iPadOnly work.

Are you getting one? I'm buying for my wife: Apple iPad mini with Retina Display: Reviewed

Looks like a great device. My wife loves her mini and as she reads so much on it, she'd appreciate the retina screen. I know Augusto is also getting one. Are you?

Will you be getting one of these iPad pros? Apple Suppliers Said to Begin Production of 12.9-Inch Retina Display for Early 2014 'iPad Pro'

Apple Suppliers Said to Begin ... www.macrumors.com screenshot

Will an iPad PRO be an ultimate #iPadOnly machine? I'm not sure, Augusto likes his mini, I like my air and I don't see me owning a 13 inch beast. A little too big for me. Who do you think could be a target for this machines?

Seriously, this ad is ridiculous: Nokia Lumia 2520: The right tablet

Great for Microsoft for trying to sell its "tablet" to people. They're really trying to prove that their tablet is a laptop but more portable. Well, if you need a laptop but more portable, get a MacBook Air. iPad is a different beast, the battery lasts good 10 hours and I don't get the "battery problem"... And the keyboard is really optional. But it's because iOS is different. You have to work differently on the iPad than you would on a laptop. As we explain in our #iPadOnly book, iPad is not a direct laptop replacement, it's a different computing machine and you need to change your assumptions and habits.... And you'll be more productive just like we are.

First iPad Air Reviews confirm it's Ridiculously Small and Light

First iPad Air Reviews: 'Ridic... www.macrumors.com screenshot

By Michael Sliwinski

Great compilation of iPad Air reviews. I didn't get a review unit (Apple, hello? :-) but I'm totally going to try to touch one on Nov 1st - now that I'm here in the UK near an Apple Store. I'm also going to order one as soon as possible. And the new just-announced Logitech Ultrathin keyboard for it.

My iPad 4 is my main machine. Now it just got lighter, smaller and more powerful. And everything by a large margin. That's why I'm getting an iPad Air ASAP and I'll try to review it here on video with Augusto pretty soon.

Really can't wait. My new mobile #iPadOnly office is shrinking and I'm loving this trend :-)

Apple October 2013 Event - iPad Goodness: Hardware & Software - #iPadOnly Show #6

Today we're discussing the past Apple's October 2013 event and what it means for an #iPadOnly person and why we think it's a big deal. Why making software free (iWork, iLife) and making hardware sleek (new iPad Air, new retina iPad mini) Apple is breaking new barriers and disrupting industries.

Editorial review and how easy it is to replace key apps on the iPad - #iPadOnly Show #5

Today we discuss the new writing app for the iPad - Editorial - something we just installed on our iPads and replaced our copies of Byword wtih. We talk about Editorial's great features, Byword's missteps and how actually easy it is to replace some of your key apps if you're using the same, universal storage for all of them, like Dropbox in our case.

Creating keyboard Shortcuts to use Emoticos better...

By Augusto Pinaud

I love Emoticons, you know the little symbols and images that you can send in Text Messages, MMS and iMessage. I prefer to use a real face than something like this: :)

The problem is that when I am writing on the iPad or in the iPhone I am not going to change keyboard in order to send a quick message so it contain a little face. So I create Keyboard shortcuts for my favorite ones, and instead let the iPad or the iPhone do the work for me. In the same way that 'apo' transform into "Augusto Pinaud", and 'yaw!' transform into "You are Welcomed!" if I type ':)' I get a real face.

Easy, fast and cool!

When you discover you need less in your office...

By Augusto Pinaud

A good friend of mine share this picture yesterday.

I saw the picture and simply smile. Not so long ago, I also have an office that have all those monitors (I use to travel with 30lbs of stuff, at home I had 3 monitors), the computers, scanners, printers and more and more stuff. I learned that many of those were distractions. These days I do most of my work on the iPad Mini and the iPhone. Actually I was unable to include my iPhone on the picture bellow because I have no other camera.

Being effective and had nothing to do with the equipment you have (amount of equipment that is). I know as a fact that my friend accomplish a lot of stuff, but you need to know and understand well your limitations. If you give me all that equipment, I tend to get distracted. When I have only the iPad and the iPhone I tend to use my time better.

I love those pictures as much as I like to go and visit my friends offices, and discover that there days I don't need much equipment to accomplish what I do. In June I went to Mexico for 10 days with my iPhone on Airplane mode and my iPad Mini. I work for 10 days over there. This morning, I am packing to work outside the house. See the picture above, thats the whole office this morning.

It is interesting when you discover you need less in your office but somehow you are accomplishing so much more...
